How do you control it?¶
Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:
osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-x0xrmx-1.1.0.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>
Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:
From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_x0xrmx: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Performance MIDI¶
Notes, pitch bend and any CC are also available: /fm1_x0xrmx/note/on <note> <velocity>, /fm1_x0xrmx/cc/<number> <value>, /fm1_x0xrmx/pitchbend <0-16383>, /fm1_x0xrmx/program_change <n>.
Limitations¶
X0X-RMX 1.1.0 by Mr-Roboto (Oliver) (GPL-3.0), a groovebox firmware for the FM-1. MIDI handling identical to X0X 1.1.0 (midi_in, channels, GM notes, clock); X0X's own map, not Felucca's; Editor INFO still reports 'X0X \<version>', not RMX; README claims USB project backup/restore over Web MIDI SysEx, but no backup handler is in the orb-remix source (reference X0X includes backup.c, this tree does not); Lacks the reference X0X's screen-reader announce frames and debug CORES/PERFT editor commands. Channels: One channel per machine, each off-able (GLO): 909 ch10, 808 ch11, 303A ch2, 303B ch3, break ch4 (firmware/src/app/project.c:492, seq/sequencer.c:32). Pitch bend: ignored. Aftertouch: ignored. Clock: In: F8 followed, FA/FB/FC honoured (USB and TRS). Out: F8 + FA/FB/FC when internal and clock-out on (default on) (app/engine.c:527-531, seq/sequencer.c:442-579). MIDI out: USB: clock/transport (default on); optional note out (default off) of drum hits on GM notes and 303 notes on the machines' channels (seq/sequencer.c:180-232). NRPN: none. SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: X0X editor subset: INFO(1), sample commands 11-16, PING(25); debug PEEK/POKE/CLOCK only in dev builds. SysEx `F0 00 32 45`: M-VAVE update protocol (identify -> FELUCCA_ID). SysEx `F0 22 24 35 7D F7`: UBOOT soft key (Felucca's): reboots to mask ROM. SysEx `F0 43`: absent (no FM engine). Identity: Vendor identify: dev FM-1_900 (x0x.c:41); release builds FM-1_9XXYYZZ, so v1.1.0 -> FM-1_9010100 (tools/build.py). Editor INFO 'X0X 1.1.0' (app/editor.c:167). No Universal Identity. USB manufacturer 'X0X', product 'X0X FM-1' (usb.c:211-217). It reads no CC.
Frequently asked questions¶
Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?
Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
