How do you control it?¶
Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:
osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-minitone-1.0.2.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>
Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:
From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_minitone: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations¶
Mini-Tone 1.0.2 by Stéphane Schmitz (GPL-3.0), a instrument firmware for the FM-1. Same 11-CC table numbers as Felucca, but engine set replaced: 10 Felucca engines removed (ENG_GONE), 11 added (SWARM.TR808), so CC74/CC71 targets differ (midi_control.c:220); 6 tracks: MIDI IN blocks CH1-6 (default), SEL, CH5-10, CH9-14, CH13-16 (tracks 5-6 unreachable there); no TRACK mode (seq.c:59-68, 1337-1342); No Program Change (removed); MIDI learn 16 entries kept, but only tracks 1-4 can be targets (2-bit track field); MIDI out keys velocity 100, no CC1 out; Source version string v1.0.3 (felucca.c:35) vs listed 1.0.2. Channels: CH1-6 block -> tracks 1-6 (default); CH5-10, CH9-14, CH13-16 blocks; SEL = every channel plays selected track; channels outside the block ignored. Pitch bend: 14-bit; RPN0 range 0-24 st + 0-99 cents, default 2; drum tracks ignore. Aftertouch: channel aftertouch = mod-matrix source; poly AT ignored. Clock: source INT/USB/TRS (MENU CLOCK); F8 steps, FA/FB/FC honoured; no SPP; no clock out (midi_clock.c identical to Felucca 1.6.1). MIDI out: USB only: panel keys as notes on the track channel, velocity 100 (seq.c:716); no CC1, no clock. NRPN: none (CC98/99 only cancel RPN). SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: Felucca editor protocol, same command set (incl. FM6 68-71/74-77, menu 72-73, learn 78-79); no palette 80-81. SysEx `F0 00 32 45`: M-VAVE update protocol kept (identify F0 00 32 45 00 00 00 40 7F F7 -> 27-byte product string). SysEx `F0 43`: absent: no raw DX7 parser (only editor FM6 commands). SysEx `F0 22 24 35 7D F7`: reboots to mask-ROM (never send). Identity: vendor identify 'FM-1_900' dev build ('FM-1_9XY' if built --release) (felucca.c:32, tools/build.py:52); editor INFO 'FELUCCA v1.0.3' (editor.c:416); USB product 'Felucca'; no Universal Identity.
Frequently asked questions¶
Which MIDI CC controls the filter cutoff on the M-VAVE FM-1?
CC 74 (0–127), named /fm1_minitone/engine_brightness_cutoff in SynthHub's map.
How many parameters of the M-VAVE FM-1 can be controlled over MIDI?
SynthHub's map of the M-VAVE FM-1 lists 21 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.
Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?
Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
