How do you control it?¶
Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:
osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-sidou-0.3.1.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>
Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:
From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_sidou: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations¶
SIDOU 0.3.1 by Denis Sablić (GPL-3.0), a instrument firmware for the FM-1. Source CMake project VERSION 0.4.0 vs 0.3.1 listed; CC64 sustain not handled; Same CC numbers on every channel, TRS and USB. Channels: Modes (MIDI page, channel N): OMNI default (all channels play the live instrument); LIVE (ch N only); MULTI (N.N+2 chip A voices 1-3 as GoatTracker jam voices, N+3 instrument on chip B); WHOLE A (N chip A poly/chord/arp, N+3 chip B); WHOLE B (N chip B). USB and TRS merged. Pitch bend: 14-bit, default +-2 st, 0-24 via RPN 0 (channel, kept over PC) or NRPN 6/0 (preset). Aftertouch: channel and polyphonic; target per preset NRPN 6/3: off (default), vibrato depth, pulse width, cutoff. Clock: in TRS+USB merged: F8, FA, FB, FC, F2 SPP, F3 song select; CLOCK AUTO/FOLLOW/OFF; chord arp follows clock. Out USB only (CLOCK OUT on, no clock in): F8 24 ppqn, FA, FC, F2+FB on resume. MIDI out: USB only (cable 0), channel 1 (build option): panel parameter changes as map CCs (or NRPN hi-res option), presets as PC (+CC0/32), learned CCs; no echo of MIDI input, no thru; clock as above. NRPN: Every live parameter: MSB 0 performance (0 cutoff,1 res,2 PW,3 volume,4 spread), 1 SID (0-10), 2 character (0-4 macros, 5-18 expert), 3-5 effect slots (0-4), 6 expression (0 bend range,1 velocity target,2 mod-wheel target,3 aftertouch target,4-6 vibrato); value MSB*128+LSB, CC38 applies; RPN 0/0 bend range; null 127/127. Frequently asked questions¶
Which MIDI CC controls the filter cutoff on the M-VAVE FM-1?
CC 74 (0–127), named /fm1_sidou/cutoff in SynthHub's map.
How many parameters of the M-VAVE FM-1 can be controlled over MIDI?
SynthHub's map of the M-VAVE FM-1 lists 56 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.
Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?
Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
