Try it in your browser

Play a virtual FM-1 with any of its community firmwares: M-VAVE FM-1.

How do you control it?

Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:

osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-gammawave-1.0-gw.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>

Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:

osc-bridge osc-send /fm1_gammawave/mod_wheel 63

From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_gammawave: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations

Pocket GammaWave 1.0-GW by ShadowTune (GammaWave Audio) (GPL-3.0), a groovebox firmware for the FM-1. Same 11-CC standard map as Felucca (CC5/7/10/71/72/73/74/75/91/93/94), but no MIDI learn; 6 tracks: ROUTE CH1-6 (default) or SEL; no CH5-8/9-12/13-16 blocks; Program Change = n+1-th sound of the whole PRESETS list (all engines then user presets), not the engine's n-th preset; Channel 16 Program Change: 0-3 section A-D, 16-23 project 1-8; No CC16-23 / CC102-105 (unlike later JIANT); Engines changed (ANALOG, PHASE, LOFI, VOICE, WHEEL, DRUM-X, NOISE, FM6; SAMPLE/TRIO/GRAIN/PHYS/SLICE retired): CC74/71 targets per table; MIDI OUT modes KEYS/CLOCK/ALL/OFF with clock out; No MIDI chords (MIDI notes play single notes); Source version v1.1-GW vs firmwares.json 1.0-GW. Channels: ROUTE CH1-6 (default): ch 1-6 -> tracks 1-6, ch 7-15 ignored; SEL: all channels -> selected track; ch 16 Program Change always goes to the song (sections/projects). USB and TRS. Pitch bend: 14-bit, RPN 0 range 0-24 st + cents, default 2 st. Aftertouch: channel aftertouch = AT mod source. Clock: clock in INT/USB/TRS (F8/FA/FB/FC); clock out over USB when MIDI OUT = CLOCK or ALL and CLOCK = INT (24 ppqn also while stopped, FA/FC). MIDI out: USB only: MIDI OUT KEYS (default: panel key notes), CLOCK (+clock, start/stop), ALL (+every sequenced/arp note), OFF; track n on channel n. NRPN: none. SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: Felucca editor protocol (INFO, GET/SET, presets, user presets, live sync, tracks, UI, backup 64-67), FM6 68-71, FM6 bank 74-77. SysEx `F0 43`: no raw DX7 parser. SysEx `F0 00 32 45`: vendor update protocol, handshake answers FELUCCA_ID. Identity: vendor identify FM-1_981 (build.py PRODUCT; felucca.c default FM-1_900); INFO "FELUCCA v1.1-GW" (source); USB name "Felucca" (loader "Felucca Update").

Frequently asked questions

Which MIDI CC controls the filter cutoff on the M-VAVE FM-1?

CC 74 (0–127), named /fm1_gammawave/engine_brightness in SynthHub's map.

How many parameters of the M-VAVE FM-1 can be controlled over MIDI?

SynthHub's map of the M-VAVE FM-1 lists 22 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.

Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?

Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
