How do you control it?¶
Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:
osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-sloop-banks-2.5-b28-test.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>
Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:
From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_sloop_banks: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Notes, pitch bend and any CC are also available: /fm1_sloop_banks/note/on <note> <velocity>, /fm1_sloop_banks/cc/<number> <value>, /fm1_sloop_banks/pitchbend <0-16383>, /fm1_sloop_banks/program_change <n>.
Limitations¶
SLOOP DX7 Banks 2.5-b28-test by majnikool (GPL-3.0), a groovebox firmware for the FM-1. Keeps SLOOP's MIDI map except: Forked from SLOOP 2.5, so it has SLOOP 2.5's MIDI: much less than 2.8.1; CC74 = the track FILTER only (64 off, below low-pass, above high-pass); no per-engine cutoff (that came in SLOOP 2.7); no CC64 sustain, no CC11 or CC121, no MIDI learn, no REMOTE CC102-115, no FX channel, no drum note map; no Program Change, no Bank Select, no pitch bend (none of the 2.6 additions); messages other than notes and CCs are dropped; fixed channels: 1-3 = synth tracks 1-3, drum channel (default 10, settable 0-16), every other channel = the selected track; no per-track channel setting, no OTHER = OFF, no IN = CH n; no MIDI clock out; editor protocol v10, and INFO ends with one extra byte: DX_USER_BANKS (12); repo HEAD (main) is not the published firmware: it is upstream SLOOP 2.3, which handles notes only. Channels: midi_track: drum channel (GLO > DRUMS > CH, default 10, 0 = off) -> drum track; ch1-3 -> synth tracks 1-3; ch4-16 -> the selected track (note-off follows the note-on). GLO > SYSTEM > IN: NOTES or CLOCK (notes and CCs ignored). Pitch bend: ignored (no pitch bend handling). Aftertouch: ignored. Clock: in from USB or TRS (GLO > SYSTEM > SYNC = INT/USB/TRS): F8 with tempo follow, FA start, FB continue, FC stop; no SPP; no clock out. MIDI out: USB: panel keys as notes on the track's channel (1-3, drum ch 10); GLO > SYSTEM > MIDI = SEQ also sends the sequencer, arp and rolls; no CC out. NRPN: none. SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: SLOOP editor protocol v10 (FM6 68-71, SYN kits 72-76, backup 34-36); INFO also returns DX_USER_BANKS. The 12 DX7 banks (32 voices each) are backup objects 100-111 written with BK_PUT; the web editor converts .syx. SysEx `F0 00 32 45`: M-VAVE vendor update protocol (identify F0 00 32 45 00 00 00 40 7F F7 -> 27-byte product string). SysEx `F0 22 24 35`: 7D F7 = reboot to mask-ROM; 7F F7 = OTA request. SysEx `F0 43`: raw DX7 SysEx is not parsed by the firmware (only the web editor converts it). Identity: vendor identify: FM-1_900 by default (build.py PRODUCT; a --release build gives FM-1_9XY; hub package not checked); editor INFO "FELUCCA SLOOP 2.5"; USB product "Felucca"; no Universal Identity reply.
Frequently asked questions¶
How many parameters of the M-VAVE FM-1 can be controlled over MIDI?
SynthHub's map of the M-VAVE FM-1 lists 16 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.
Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?
Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
