Play a virtual FM-1 with any of its community firmwares: M-VAVE FM-1.

How do you control it?

Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:

osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-cs1-2026.10.22.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>

Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:

osc-bridge osc-send /fm1_cs1/expression_pressure_default 63

From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_cs1: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations

CS-1 2026.10.22 by twochannels (GPL-3.0), a instrument firmware for the FM-1. source VERSION file says 0.3.4 (firmwares.json lists the hub date 2026.10.22); most parameters reach MIDI through CC80-83 (current page) or MIDI learn, not a fixed map. Channels: single part: MIDI CHAN setting 0 = omni (default) or 1-16, saved; USB and TRS MIDI IN merged. Pitch bend: 14-bit, fixed +-2 semitones; no RPN. Aftertouch: channel pressure and polyphonic aftertouch both drive the CS-80 touch response. Clock: in: F8 measures tempo for delay SYNC and LFO/sub-osc divisions (120 BPM default, held 2 s), FA resets the LFO phase; no transport, no SPP, no clock out. MIDI out: USB: panel keys as notes with velocity (channel 1) and polyphonic aftertouch from the keys' pressure. NRPN: none. MIDI learn: up to 16 CC -> page/knob bindings (REC + knob + CC), saved, checked before the fixed map. SysEx `F0 00 32 45 / F0 22 24 35`: M-VAVE vendor update protocol kept (identify F0 00 32 45 00 00 00 40 7F F7 -> 27-byte product string; F0 22 24 35 7F F7 upgrade; F0 22 24 35 7D F7 reboots to mask-ROM UBOOT: never send). SysEx `F0 43`: no raw DX7 parser: absent. Identity: vendor identify FM-1_950 (dev), release FM-1_95Y (0.3.4 -> FM-1_953; 95N range shared with fmel/opn1/ketch/kawa); rescue FM-1_000; USB product 'Felucca'. No editor INFO.

Frequently asked questions

Which MIDI CC controls the filter cutoff on the M-VAVE FM-1?

CC 74 (0–127), named /fm1_cs1/brilliance_cutoff_lever in SynthHub's map.

How many parameters of the M-VAVE FM-1 can be controlled over MIDI?

SynthHub's map of the M-VAVE FM-1 lists 26 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.

Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?

Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
