Try it in your browser
Play a virtual FM-1 with any of its community firmwares: M-VAVE FM-1.
Sounds of other devices¶
This device loads, as they are, the shared sounds of the Yamaha DX7 (484): open one and load it from the browser.
How do you control it?¶
Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:
osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-melodee-1.4.5.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>
Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:
From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_melodee: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations¶
Melodee 1.4.5 by keremimo (GPL-3.0), a instrument firmware for the FM-1. CC72/73/75 drive native envelopes (Prophet amp env; FM6 R1/R2/R4 all ops as 99-v*99/127; CZ env stages); CC74/71 per-engine macros (CZ: CC74 = filter-edit param); CC91/93 no effect (FX removed in 1.2.1); no Program Change handling; DRUM channel (default 10) -> first drum track; raw DX7/CZ/Prophet SysEx parsed on device. Channels: routing block CH1-4/5-8/9-12/13-16 or SEL; DRUM channel default 10 -> first drum track. Pitch bend: 14-bit, RPN0 range as Felucca. Aftertouch: channel AT mod source (Felucca). Clock: Felucca clock in. MIDI out: Felucca (USB notes). NRPN: none. SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: Felucca editor protocol; INFO -> 'MELODEE v1.4.5'. SysEx `F0 43 0n 00 01 1B`: DX7 single voice VCED 163 B. SysEx `F0 43 0n 09 20 00`: DX7 32-voice VMEM bank 4104 B, checksum verified, staged then confirmed on panel. SysEx `F0 43 1n`: DX7 parameter change (gg pp dd) and function param (08 pp dd). SysEx `F0 43 2n 00 F7 / F0 43 2n 09 F7`: DX7 dump requests, answered with VCED/VMEM. SysEx `F0 44 00 00 7n 30`: Casio CZ tone dump (CZ-101/1000 128 B, CZ-1 144 B); requests 20/21. Identity: vendor identify FM-1_900; editor INFO 'MELODEE v1.4.5' (newest tag v1.5.0-rc.1).
Frequently asked questions¶
Which MIDI CC controls the filter cutoff on the M-VAVE FM-1?
CC 74 (0–127), named /fm1_melodee/engine_brightness_macro in SynthHub's map.
How many parameters of the M-VAVE FM-1 can be controlled over MIDI?
SynthHub's map of the M-VAVE FM-1 lists 13 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.
Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?
Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
