Try it in your browser

Play a virtual FM-1 with any of its community firmwares: M-VAVE FM-1.

How do you control it?

Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:

osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-mycelium-1.0-test.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>

Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:

osc-bridge osc-send /fm1_mycelium/system/info

From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1_mycelium: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Performance MIDI

Notes, pitch bend and any CC are also available: /fm1_mycelium/note/on <note> <velocity>, /fm1_mycelium/cc/<number> <value>, /fm1_mycelium/pitchbend <0-16383>, /fm1_mycelium/program_change <n>.

Limitations

MYCELIUM 1.0-test by Mandalars (GPL-3.0), a groovebox firmware for the FM-1. Old SLOOP (2.3) MIDI: notes and clock only; none of SLOOP 2.8.1's CC map, Program Change, sustain, remote, FX channel or DR MAP; Source version string 'MYCELIUM 1.0' vs firmwares.json '1.0-test'. Channels: ch1-3 -> synth tracks 1-3, drum channel GLO > DRUMS > CH (default 10, 0=off) -> drum track (nearest of 16 sounds by GM note), other channels -> selected track (seq.c:1597-1619, params.c:123). Pitch bend: ignored. Aftertouch: ignored. Clock: In: GLO > SYSTEM > SYNC = INT/USB/TRS; F8 (tempo 40-240), FA/FB/FC; internal resumes after 0.5 s without pulses; no SPP; no clock out (seq.c:1621-1700). MIDI out: USB: panel keys as notes on the selected track's channel (synth 1-3, drums on drum channel); sequencer not sent (seq.c:1147-1220). NRPN: none. SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: Felucca/SLOOP editor protocol v6: INFO, GET/SET, presets, samples, live sync, tracks, drum steps, backup BK_LIST/GET/PUT. SysEx `F0 00 32 45`: M-VAVE update protocol (identify -> FELUCCA_ID; recovery FM-1_000). SysEx `F0 22 24 35 7D F7`: UBOOT soft key. SysEx `F0 43`: absent (banks only via editor). Identity: Vendor identify FM-1_900 (felucca.c:33; provenance verified). Editor INFO 'FELUCCA MYCELIUM 1.0' (editor.c:561, ui.c:6), protocol 6. No Universal Identity. USB manufacturer 'Mandalars', product 'Mycelium' (usb.c:200-205). It reads no CC.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI agent like Claude control the M-VAVE FM-1?

Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the M-VAVE FM-1's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
