How do you control it?¶
Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:
osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/m-vave/fm-1.vendor.fw-fimba-0.6.1.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>
Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:
From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as fm1: ask “what can the M-VAVE FM-1 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations¶
FiMba-1 0.6.1 by jadamsowers (GPL-3.0), a instrument firmware for the FM-1. Channels: Setup 'MIDI ch': Omni (default) or 1-16, single receive channel for everything except clock (ui.c:531). VERIFIED-SOURCE ui.c:520-556 note on plucks the tine of that pitch at that velocity; note off damps when Release=Damp. TRS jack is MIDI IN only (channel messages and F8/FA/FB/FC; SysEx ignored), merged with USB into one queue (midi_uart.c:3-7). Pitch bend: 14-bit, fixed +/-2 semitones on every ringing tine; no RPN (ui.c:550, dsp/kalimba.c:1375-1376). Aftertouch: Channel pressure = finger over the hole (HOLE_PRESS) (ui.c:548-549); poly AT ignored. Clock: In: F8/FA/FB/FC on any channel drive the pattern (Start resets the cycle, Stop holds) (ui.c:525-527). No clock out, no SPP. MIDI out: USB, 'MIDI out' Setup param, default Off: panel keys as notes on the Setup channel (ch1 when Omni) (ui.c:238-245). NRPN: none (no RPN either). SysEx `F0 (pack7: 00 59 cmd len24 body chk) F7`: M-VAVE update protocol: identify (cmd 0x11, the F0 00 32 45 00 00 00 40 7F F7 query) answers the 27-byte package identity (FELUCCA_ID); read requests 0x30 during an install. SysEx `F0 22 24 35 7F F7`: start an update session (M-UPGRADE pull). SysEx `F0 22 24 35 7D F7`: soft key: reboot into UBOOT / mask-ROM loader (never send). SysEx `F0 7D 46 4C`: absent: no Felucca editor protocol (no editor.c), so no INFO reply. SysEx `F0 43`: absent: no raw DX7 voice/bank parser. SysEx `F0 7E 7F 06 01`: absent: no Universal Identity reply. Identity: Vendor identify: 'FM-1_800' (main.c default) / release build 'FM-1_8000601 for 0.6.1' (tools/build.py --release). No editor INFO, no Universal Identity. USB product 'FiMba FM-1'. Update loader shows as 'ota-FM-1_015'.
