Use it

Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:

osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device yamaha/dx7.vendor.fw-mtg-mega128-1.30 --out-port <N> --in-port <M>

From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as dx7: ask “what can the Yamaha DX7 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Programs and banks

A program change selects a sound.

Bank Bank select (CC 0 / CC 32) Program change Numbers Shown as
Bank 1 – / – 0–31 1–32 1-32
Bank 2 – / – 32–63 1–32 1-32
Bank 3 – / – 64–95 1–32 1-32
Bank 4 – / – 96–127 1–32 1-32

Recall one with /dx7/program/recall <bank> <number> (the bank by name, the number as shown).

Reading a stored sound back: recall it, then ask for the sound it plays (F0 43 channel 00 F7).

The program change picks the bank itself: 4 banks of 32. The expansion shows its version on the panel (Function + 16 + 32).

Written once for the maker's models, in the yamaha/dx7-expansions profile.
