Ensoniq ASR-10 MIDI CC chart, NRPN and OSC map

The Ensoniq ASR-10 MIDI implementation: 3 CC, 10 SysEx commands, each named, for Claude (MCP), SuperCollider or any OSC app.

Use it

Find the MIDI ports, then start the bridge with this driver:

osc-bridge detect # prints the ready-to-run line for what is plugged in
osc-bridge run --device devices/ensoniq/asr-10.vendor.fw-unknown.json --out-port <N> --in-port <M>

Then send OSC to 127.0.0.1:7777, for example:

osc-bridge osc-send /asr_10/pedal 63

From Claude or any MCP client, the osc-bridge mcp server exposes this driver as asr_10: ask “what can the Ensoniq ASR-10 do?” and it reads this map with list_routes. See the MCP guide.

Limitations

Source: ASR-10 Musician's Manual, MIDI chapters (no MIDI implementation chart or SysEx specification in it). Pitch bend, mod wheel, pressure (key or channel), volume and sustain are sent and received when MIDI CONTROLLERS=ON, but the manual numbers only controllers #4, #7 and #70; MIDI XCTRL NUMBER (0-127) picks one more external controller as a modulator. MIDI IN MODE (OMNI, POLY, MULTI, MONO A, MONO B) and the base channel decide what is received; in MONO modes the base channel minus one carries global controllers. Program change meanings depend on the mode (selection/stack/presets versus file loads, directory exit and macros). Song Select 0-127 is sent when a song is loaded. Remote programming and WaveSample dumps exist over SysEx (MIDI SYS-EX=ON) but their format is not in this manual, so none is exposed. Untested on hardware.

Frequently asked questions

How many parameters of the Ensoniq ASR-10 can be controlled over MIDI?

SynthHub's map of the Ensoniq ASR-10 lists 3 MIDI CC parameters, each with its number, range and a readable name; the full chart is on this page.

Can an AI agent like Claude control the Ensoniq ASR-10?

Yes: SynthHub's hosted MCP server knows the Ensoniq ASR-10's MIDI map, and its browser relay lets the agent send it parameter changes or load a sound, each sound change confirmed by you.
